Kaldun Coding Academy is a non-profit which intends to inspire a love of technology among underrepresented youth. Our primary focus is creating well rounded students with a strong understanding of hardware and software. We currently teach two courses and have collaborated with the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Our first course is an introduction to microcontroller programming. Our second is Python.
You can access our website as well as our curriculum at kalduncodingacademy.com.
I was inspired to create Kaldun after taking my first year of programming classes. At times, when I faced roadblocks, I wished I had been introduced to programming at a younger age so that things would be easier. I decided to give that opportunity to kids growing up in similar circumstances as me.
The name Kaldun was inspired by the North African thinker Ibn Khaldun, who is considered the originator of historiography, a radically new paradigm in the study of history. We hope that our students will also create new paradigms that will change the world.
